A well-drawn portrait of an apocalyptic world. Character driven plot makes for great reading. Highly recommend!

I listened to “ Before We Were Yours “ audio book. The narrator was very good. The story was about children stolen from their parents and brought to an orphanage where they mistreated, eventually many were adopted for a big price for the time. Other children were not so lucky. The story had fictional characters but the subject of the book was unfortunately true.

Well done, a story of trauma but that isn’t the the center piece. It’s about how you grow to handle it and learn to adapt and become resilient and forgive.

The book was very interesting. It is amazing that he was able to be strong and recover from such catastrophic injuries. It was also great to see how much love and support he received.

While likely not an uncommon response, I loved this book. It was the first book I've read in a bit, and I found myself unable to put it down. I never read it in school, and think I can respect it even more reading it outside of that context as it was by my own accord. Similar to The Handmaid's Tale, another one of my favorites, I found this story to not be too far off from our reality, which made it ever more significant to me. It certainly deserves a place on all bookshelves! The only reason it got 4 stars is for its vague, rather unsatisfying ending, although it was likely left this way on purpose. However, I will forever be upset that Clarisse did not welcome Montag at the end of the story with the others by the rail tracks!
